The
Ottawa wireless event— held monthly
OWC
hosts a networking and presentation event on the second Thursday
of each month. These sessions bring together a large proportion
of Ottawa’s wireless business leaders to network and
learn of the latest developments in the local, national and
international wireless marketplaces.
In
fact, OWC events have quickly become the meeting place for
executives, entrepreneurs, engineers, marketers and other
wireless professionals. The OWC arena provides an effective
platform for education, collaboration, new business development,
R&D showcasing, industry alliance and investment. At least
two wireless start-up ventures currently in the negotiation
phase were spawned at OWC events.

#TAXI (“Pound Taxi”), the first of a new breed of consumer-centric
mobile-search applications for wireless carriers across North
America. From deep in the trenches where he daily engages
the carriers, outsourced suppliers of mission-critical elements
and strategic marketing partners, company president and co-founder
Nick Quain will report on some of the tough lessons learned
and triumphs scored over the past few years in what should
be a highly instructive session for Ottawa entrepreneurs in
the wireless field and beyond.
Nick
is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of CellWand,
in addition to overseeing product development and spearheading
all strategic alliances and wireless carrier relationships.
Nick pioneered CellWand's success with #TAXI, which is available
on every mobile phone in Canada, where it is has generated
millions of calls. In the United States, #TAXI has gone live
over the last few months on close to 150-million mobile phones,
including with AT&T Mobility, Verizon Wireless, Alltel
and Boost Mobile.

Nick
has tremendous experience in consumer-centric technology applications
and development, and an impressive track record in sales and
marketing. Before CellWand, he ran Ottawa's digg design and
he has worked in marketing and sales for a wide range of industry
leaders including Shaw Communications, Labatt and Kraft General
Foods. Nick graduated Cum Laude from the University of Ottawa
with a Bachelor of Commerce honours degree in marketing.
