ࡱ> 463M bjbj== "WWlxxxxxxxBBBB Njn:$ xxx.xxIxxb rBa0i,( (xxxxDeloitte, Ottawa Wireless Cluster, OCRI Survey Probes Local Wireless Sector First Survey of Industry Provides Important Benchmark Data April 8, 2004, Ottawa: Deloitte, The Ottawa Wireless Cluster and OCRI today released the results of a survey of the local areas wireless technology sector. Among the key findings, over 90% of companies responding to the survey are projecting revenue growth. The wireless companies in Ottawa employ over 1,500 employees and this employment number is also expected to grow. Over half of the surveys respondents identified recruiting of employees and retaining their staff as key success factors in their companys continued growth in the region. The report indicates that the sector has attracted a total of 16 venture capital deals to this point in the year, representing 9% of the total amount of venture capital dollars invested in Ottawas technology market last year. Herb Woods, Chair of the Ottawa Wireless Cluster, commented on the survey results regarding the size of the sector locally and its predictions for growth. We knew that the region had a sizeable wireless industry; now we have important base line data that we can use going forward to measure the continued success of the sector. This survey is proof that Ottawa is fostering important companies in exciting new areas of wireless business. I think the future continues to looks very bright for our wireless sector .
